Head of the Housatonic Regatta 2024
On Sunday, October 13th, the Aggies traveled to Derby, Connecticut to participate in the Head of the Housatonic regatta where the day had four Aggie boats racing. The varsity squad had a 4+ accompanied by a 8+ and the novice squad ran the N8+ and a N4+. The day began with a chill but quickly transitioned to a sunny, delightful day for the Aggies, who were making their return to the Housatonic after a brief hiatus.
The first event for the Aggies was the Novice 8+.
1N8+: 4th out of 6
The novice 8+ comprised of Datya Kurzban (Coxswain), Graham Schwendt (stroke), Ryan Greenwood (7), Drew Olson (6), Ryan O’Meara (5), Ryan Tessitore (4), Augustus Elam (3), Anders Borger (2), and Parikshith Hebbar (bow), raced to competitive finish, missing 3rd place by 1.8 seconds.
Following their fellow novice boat was the Novice 4+
1N4+: 1st
The novice 4+, Vivian Kalik (Coxswain), Eddie Keen (stroke), Adam Post-Montjoie (3), Ethan Holmes (2), and Ismael Mendes (1), raced to a first-place finish at the regatta to round out the novice events for the Aggies for the day.
Moving to the varsity events, the V8+ was up first in the collegiate 8+ event.
1V8+: 6th out of 17
The V8+, stroked by Gage Lane, raced in a competitive event with the boat going stroke for stroke with Lehigh. The boat, consisting of Jonathan Shi (Coxswain), Gage Lane (stroke), Daniel Smith (7), James Burnham (6), Matthew Lavoie (5), Zachary Kirchner (4), Luka Lasic (3), Robert Mottau (2), and Deylin Uysal (bow), was able to hold off Lehigh as the finish approached and look to continue to improve for the Head of the Charles next Sunday in the Men’s Collegiate Eight event.
Rounding up the racing for the Aggies was the 1V4+.
1V4+: 9th out of 22
The V4+, looking to expand on their 1st place finish last week, consisting of Mitchell Cruz (Coxswain), Samuel Sturdy (stroke), Mark Legarda (3), Max Johnson (2), and Brandon Burns (bow), competed in a tough field consisting of multiple Ivy League boats and managed a top-half finish. The boat looks to continue its momentum into the Head of the Charles Men’s Club Fours event on Saturday.

The Aggies move the focus to the Head of the Charles, where one boat will race in the Club Fours Event (Event 31) at 12:35 pm, bow number 12 on Saturday. The other boat will race in the Collegiate Eight Event (Event 66) at 2:09 pm, bow number 34 on Sunday.
