Head Coach - Isabelle Bigelow

Isabelle joins the UMass Men’s Crew as Head Coach ahead of the 2024-2025 season. She is a current graduate student at Springfield College, pursuing her MS in Athletic Leadership. After graduating from Washington College with a BA in Political Science, Isabelle began as an Assistant Coach at Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club and Northampton Community Rowing, coaching both competitive and recreational junior and masters teams, as well as learn-to-row programs. Isabelle’s love for rowing started at Washington College where she walked onto the team as a freshman, and finished her senior year with an NCAA National Championship appearance in the team’s 1V8.

Novice Coach - Mark Legarda

Mark finishes his tenure with the UMass Men’s Crew as Novice Coach for the Spring 2025 Semester. He is a current Senior Kinesiology Major and a Member of the Commonwealth Honors College at UMass Amherst. Mark has been with the program since his Freshman year, having served as an Executive Board member in his Sophomore and Junior years and Captain in his Junior and current years. Mark has been a part of various Varsity boats during his time on the team. His notable finishes include 4th in the 2- event at ACRA 2023, 1st in the B Final with teammate Brandon Burns at ACRA 2024, 1st in the 4+ category at Head of the Snake 2024, and being a part of the 4+ representing UMass at HOCR 2024.

The Massachusetts Men’s Crew team would like to thank Tony Cronin for his 23 years of Service to the team as he continues down a new path at UMass.

Robert Engelhardt took charge of the Novice returning from Covid-19 and was essential to the team’s success in Spring 2024.
