Patriot’s Cup 2025
On Saturday, April 19th, the Aggies took a trip down to the nearby Storrs, CT, to face off with Northeast teams (UConn, UNH, URI, and BC) at the Patriot’s Cup. Taking place on Coventry Lake, the Aggies raced a 1V4+, 2V4+, 2V8+, N4+, and LN4+. The beautiful, high of 80 degree day propelled the Aggies to a clean sweep of all races. Race conditions had a minimal current and a strong crossing tailwind.
1V4+: 1st
Racing first was the 1V4+, looking to build on recent races. The boat comprised of Jonathon Shi(Coxswain), James Burnham(stroke), Luka Lasic(3), Max Johnson(2), and Brandon Burns(bow) raced to a first place finish, clearing all other boats by a minimum of 2 lengths.
2V4+: 1st
Next was the 2V4+ featuring Skyler Ellis(Coxswain), Gage Lane(stroke), Samuel Sturdy(3), Danny Smith(2), and Deylin Uysal(bow) who won their race by 31 seconds.
2V8+: 1st
Rounding out the varsity squad was the 2V8+ event featuring Jonathon Shi(Coxswain), Luke Shamaly(stroke), Matthew Lavoie(7), Zachary Kirchner(6), Robert Mottau(5), Edward Keen(4), Anders Borger(3), Marcus Larsson(2), and West Williams(bow) who won their race by 8 seconds.
1N4+: 1st
Moving to the Novice 4+’s, first was the heavyweight boat comprised of Chad Zannotti(Coxswain), Ryan Greenwood(stroke), Augustus Elam(3), Graham Schwendt(2), and Quinn Keating(bow) that were able to win their race by 11 seconds.
LN4+: 1st
Next was the Lightweight Novice 4+, going up against varsity squads, comprised of Datya Kurzban(Coxswain), Anders Borger(stroke), Ryan O’Meara(3), Ryan Tessitore(2), and Kayan Volpe(bow) beat the other boats by 13 seconds.
The Patriot’s Cup was largely successful for the Aggies as it was a clean sweep for the Aggies in all events they partook in. It is becoming a favorite regatta for the Aggies as they continue their winning ways at Patriot’s Cup.
Next the boys are in Worcester for the McGee Cup and look forward to continue building as they enter the second half of the season.
